Because It’s There

When George Mallory was asked why he wanted to attempt to climb Everest, he simply replied:

“Because it’s there.”

Do not wait for a sign, or winds to shift, do not wait for calm, do not wait for a window. There is reason enough to move towards a path, we are here, so we might as well move in any direction that opens up the mystery of our being, any course that fills our steps with pure bliss. In the end, the footsteps will fade, but the stories will live on, the experinces that shaped those that we passed will carry over to reshape our world.
